7 Years Ago Today…

My How Things Have Changed…

7 years ago today… the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone National Park!

Today was the day we were supposed to leave for our big trip of 2024. As I woke up this morning, I was reminded that we hit a bump in the road on our big trip last night… we got home to our youngest, Harper, throwing up. Yeah… she’s pretty sick. So, we pause, we pray, we reflect… and we continue to pack our bags and get last minute things done around the house before we leave… all while giving her time to rest. And that’s exactly what she’s done.

This also got me to thinking about where we were 7 years ago. We left that year actually on May 31st and got a bit of a head-start on that trip. This one has been the opposite so far… getting held back due to school getting out later than usual this year with snow days. But it will also go forward for us a bit and give us a bit more time on the back end of things. 7 years ago we were in Yellowstone… our 2nd full day in Yellowstone having been staying over in Driggs Idaho and traveling back and forth, seeing all the sights. What a trip that was! I love the west… and now I’m even more excited about seeing so much of the North East!

Looking at this picture helped me be mindful of how time has passed. Though that was the best iPhone on the market at the time, the video quality wasn’t the best nor the picture quality. Regardless, it captured the excitement of the moment… and though you can’t see it in this picture, we could hardly hear each other speak… due to the roar of the waterfall behind us! Times have changed in the past 7 years. I remember when Covid hit thinking there’s probably no way we will ever be able to do a big trip again! That was just my stinkin’ thinkin’ at the time. But the world HAS changed! People are different. We are different… but in a good way. We are all growing up, learning as we go, and having fun along the journey! Looking back I have some fond memories of the family and that trip and the quality time spent together. From here, we will look forward to the memories we will make and the adventures we will take.

Where’s your pilgrimage taking you?

Be blessed,

Frankie
